BalounRuby.jpgOn Monday August 11, 2008, Ruby Baloun passed away peacefully at the age of 97 at Tabor Home in Morden, MB.

She loved and was loved by two daughters, Lydia and John Pavloff, of California, and Mary Rand of Winnipeg; two sons, Elmo Baloun and John Baloun both of Edmonton, AB and a daughter-in-law, Edith and husband, Russ Langseth of Manitou; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Walter in 1993 and daughter-in-law, Verna Baloun (2007); son-in-law, Walter Rand (2008).

Ruby was born May 7, 1911. She met Walter and married soon after on January 26, 1930 and left to begin a very new life in Canada. She never saw her parents again. Although she was able to travel to Czechoslovakia a few times, it was after they were gone.

They farmed in the 1-6 district for over 30 years. They moved to Morden in 1959. She worked at the sewing factory for several years and enjoyed the work and the friends she made there. She was a "people person".

She moved to the Tabor apartments after Walter's passing and remained there until she became incapacitated by a stroke in December of 2004. After some time in the hospital, she became a resident of Tabor Home personal care. The family is grateful to all the staff for the care given to her there.

Memorial service was held on Monday, August 18, 2008 at 11:00 am at Wiebe Funeral Chapel in Morden with Rev. Morris Vincent officiating.  Ash interment followed at Hillside Cemetery.

Donations may be made in Ruby’s memory to Tabor Home Memorial Fund 230 9th St. South Morden, MB R6M 1Y3 or a charity of your choice.
