Walter Howard Demke

1931 – 2008

On Saturday, February 23, 2008 Walter Demke aged 76 years of Winkler, MB passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.

Walter was born August 14, 1931 in Winkler where he lived and farmed his entire life.

He is survived by his wife Mary (nee Krahn) of Winkler; 3 daughters and 2 sons; Debbie and John Neufeld of Winkler (Derek, Candice and Nat Comtois, Calleen), Cherrie and Pete Goertzen of Winkler (Alex, Jesse), Pam Demke of Winkler (Emerson, Alyssa), Brian Demke of Winkler, Howard and Lynn Demke of Winnipeg (Connor, Shaye) as well as 3 sisters, Lil Reimer of Morden, Irene Andrusko of Winnipeg and Carol Friesen of LaCrete, AB.

He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Mathilda (nee Wonnick) Demke, sister, June Demke and grandson, Colin Neufeld.

Funeral service was held on Friday, February 29, 2008 at 11:00 am at Winkler Bergthaler Mennonite Church with Rev. John Wiebe and Rev. Menno Janzen officiating.  Interment followed at Westridge Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Walter’s memory to Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba CE501 – 840 Sherbrook Street Winnipeg, MB R3A 1S1.
