Robert Clifford Cram

1924 – 2008

Cram, Bob.jpgIt is with sadness we announce that Robert Cram aged 84 years passed away suddenly at his home near Morden, MB on Sunday, February 24, 2008 with his wife, Lois, daughter-in-law, Beth and grandson, Steven at his side.

Bob was born in 1924, the second child of Cliff and Gladys (nee Fish) Cram of Morden.  He received his early education at Cheval School and later Morden Collegiate.  In 1942, Bob joined the R.C.A.F as a bomb armourer and served until 1945.

Bob and Lois were married in 1943 and in 1945 came to the Cram farm, which had been homesteaded by his grandfather in 1875.  Bob was very proud that the tradition was being carried out by his grandson, Steven.

Bob was a charter member of the Morden Credit Union.  He had been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for over 60 years.  He was on the council of the RM of Stanley for 22 years and during that time served on the Morden Veterinary Clinic and the Hospital Boards for many years.  Bob was looking forward to golfing again with his brother Don at Minnewasta Gold and Country Club where he had been a member for over 40 years.

He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife, Lois (nee Fraser) Cram of Morden; 1 daughter, Carolyn and Ike Friesen of Winnipeg; 1 son, Jim and Merle Cram of Ladysmith, BC; daughter-in-law Beth Cram of Morden; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer, Patrick, Geoff, Alison and Jeff, Steven, Deanne, Michael, Michelle; 4 great grandchildren, Amanda, Danny, Ben, Addison; 2 sisters, Evelyn Haesloop of Long Beach, CA, Lois Williams of Kelowna, BC; 1 brother, Don and Mavis Cram of Morden.

He was predeceased by his son, Douglas in 1997 and both parents.

Memorial service was held on Friday, February 29, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Wiebe Funeral Chapel.  Members of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 11 formed an Honour Guard followed by ash interment at the Chapel Cemetery Columbarium.

If friends so desire, donations may be made in Bob’s memory to either Boundary Trails Health Centre MRI Fund Box 2000 Winkler, MB R6W 1H8 or Cancer Care Manitoba 675 McDermot Ave. Room ON109 Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
