Mary Banman (nee Harder)
1924 – 2008
On Tuesday morning August 19, 2008, at Boundary Trails Health Centre, Mary Banman aged 83 years of Winkler, MB peacefully left this world to her mansion in glory.
Mary Banman was born November 4, 1924 in the Plum Coulee area where she grew up and attended school. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to the Haskett area where she met her husband, Jacob Banman. They married, farmed and raised a family in that area. After all four children, Henry, Anne, Peter and David were grown Mary followed her dream and enrolled at Winkler Bible School. She loved to study and committed much of the Bible to memory. This served her well in later years when in spite of her blindness, she continued to teach youth and college students at Winkler EMM Church.
Her passion to serve has inspired us all (Henry (Anne), Anne (John), Peter (Susan), David; grandchildren, Wendy, Chad, Cam, Geoff, Ryan, Kelly, Carl, Keith, Cheyna, Destiny, Andrew, Bryan and great grandchildren, Andrew, Kyle, Riley, Noah, Brooklyn, Eric, Alex, Codee, Austin, Lakia, Chasky, Lenise, Sharissa) to also serve her loving God and Saviour Jesus Christ and to love our family and friends to whom Mary gave herself so totally and unselfishly. She went to her reward and left us a legacy richer than any material wealth could buy. She is also survived by 1 sister, Lena Zacharias of Plum Coulee.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jacob in 2005 and her brother, Peter a few weeks ago.
Funeral service was held on Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 10:30 am at Winkler EMM Church. Interment followed at Westridge Memorial Gardens.
Donations may be made in Mary’s memory to Children’s Camps International.
A special thank you to all the friends at her apartment where she enjoyed living for the last 4 years. Also thank you to Boundary Trails Health Centre Palliative Care for their care of Mary and the family during the last week of her life.
