Helen Neufeld
1912 – 2008
On Monday, April 7, 2008 at her residence at Salem Home in Winkler, MB, Helen Neufeld aged 95 years went to her eternal rest.
Helen was born on December 11, 1912 to Heinrich and Sarah (nee Braun) in Arkadak, Russia. The family came from Russia in 1930 and settled in Holmfield near Killarney, MB. Helen worked as a maid in the country as well as in Winnipeg. She was baptized upon confession of her faith on August 6, 1933 by Rev. C.N. Hiebert in Winnipeg. She later moved back to the Holmfield area where she and her brother, Henry farmed for a period of time. Then in 1959, she moved to Winkler, was employed at Salem Home and became a member of the Winkler Mennonite Brethren Church on September 6, 1959. She moved into Salem Home in 2002.
She leaves to mourn her passing 3 brothers, John, Cornie and Frank Neufeld.
She was predeceased by her 2 sisters, Mary and Sarah as well as 4 brothers, George, Jake, Abe and Henry.
Funeral service was held on Friday, April 11, 2008 at 9:45 am at Salem Home with Rev. David Friesen officiating. Interment followed at Winkler Cemetery.
