Vera Lorraine Penner

1950 – 2008

Penner, Lorraine.jpgLorraine passed from earth to heaven with her family by her side on June 13, 2008 at the Boundary Trails Health Center, after a difficult short battle with cancer.

She was born and raised in Morden.  She was born with health challenges, but overcame them at an early age.

Lorraine graduated high school in 1968.  She was skilled at running and track and field. Following graduation, Lorraine completed one year of Bible School in Saskatoon.  Here her faith in God continued to grow and drew her into Youth With a Mission Ministry.

Every July, she enjoyed spending two weeks at Manhattan Beach Family Camp.  She loved to sit under the teaching of anointed speakers.  One of Lorraine’s favorite sayings was, “In the Name of Jesus.”  One of her favorite scripture passages was 1 Corinthians 15:58, “Be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, for as much as you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”  She taught Sunday School in Christian Life Center for more than 30 years.  Every Friday she drove from Winnipeg to Morden. Lorraine loved to watch her young students mature in the Lord.

Lorraine’s working career took her from Churchill, MB to Red Deer, AB to Halifax, NS to Hay River, NWT.  For the last 29 years she has been employed in Winnipeg at Empire Iron Works in the drafting department.

Lorraine was a rock in our family. She will be missed by us all.  We love you, Lorraine, and one day we will stand together around God’s throne.

Left to remember her with love are her mother, Dorothy (nee Brown) of Morden, sister, Sharon and Lawrence Hamilton of BC, brother, Douglas and Lynda; niece, Stacey and Kevin Hildebrand and their daughters, Janessa and Kaitlyn; nephew, Mathew, all of Morden.

She was predeceased by her father, Neil Penner on June 11, 2006.

Celebration of Lorraine’s life was held on Tuesday June 17, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Christian Life Centre in Morden with Rev. Weldon Yeo officiating.  Interment took place at Chapel Cemetery.

Our family thanks the dedicated staff and doctors of Boundary Trails Health Center who worked so hard to meet Lorraine’s needs for the last five weeks.   Thank you to family and friends who supported Lorraine in prayer. The prayers are appreciated.

Wiebe Funeral Chapel, Morden in care of arrangements.
