Harold Gordon McKay

1942 – 2007

McKay Harold.jpgIt is with great sadness our family announces that on Monday, November 5, 2007 at Boundary Trails Health Centre, after a short battle with cancer, Harold McKay of Morden, MB aged 65 years went to his eternal rest.

Harold was born October 12, 1942 in Flin Flon, MB.  He was the third child of Henry and Lorna (nee Lock) McKay.  He grew up on the family farm at Birch River.  He started work at an early age which lead him to Pierson MB, where he met his wife of 36 years Juletta (nee Fraser).  Together, they had two daughters, Suzanna and Shelley.  In 1975, Morden became their home where Harold worked hard to provide for his family doing what he enjoyed most; driving the floater for Riediger’s and semi-truck for Schweitzer-Mauduit and Gardewine North.

In his leisure time he enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the cottage on Pelican Lake.  He also enjoyed golfing, playing cards, tending to his garden and taking a chance on the VLTs.  He took great pleasure in spending time with his very special little buds, Tyrell & Reece.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Juletta (nee Fraser) of Morden; 2 daughters, Susanne and Gary L’Heureux of Portage La Prairie, Shelley and Chris Graham of Morden; his 2 grandsons, Tyrell L’Heureux and Reece Graham; as well as his brother, Alex  and Laura McKay, sister, Tressie Johnston; in-laws, Iona and Art Godfrey, Eugene and Marg Fraser, Melanie and Bob Meredith along with many nieces, nephews and their families, co-workers and many special friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Lorna McKay, Nels Peters; 2 sisters, Mary Gleason and Zona McKay; brother-in-law, Alan Johnston; mother-in-law, Wanda Fraser and father-in-law, Ken Fraser.

Memorial service was held on Friday, November 9, 2007 at 2:00 pm at St. Paul’s United Church with Jeanette Brigit officiating.

A special thank you to Dr. Menzies and all the staff at Boundary Trails Health Centre for the unbelievable care and compassion.
