Frank Klassen2.jpgOn Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at Boundary Trails Health Centre, Frank H. Klassen aged 92 years was called to be with our Lord.

Frank was born on June 26, 1914 near Haskett, MB and lived there until he was 14 years of age. The Klassen family moved to the Pembina Valley in the early 1930’s. Frank traveled from the Pembina Valley to Morden where he boarded and worked for numerous years as a farm hand for his Uncle and Aunt Thiessen. Frank then relocated to Winkler where he was employed at a vegetable packing plant. Winkler is where he called “Home” for the remainder of his years, taking boarders into his humble home. Frank held an appreciation for Christian and Western music. During visits, he would play whatever instrument was available and sing along. His warm smile and jokester sense of humor will be sadly missed by all his friends and family.

He leaves to mourn his passing his sister, Maria Martin of Portage La Prairie; his step-brother, Abe Martin of Abbotsford, BC and his step-sister, Tina Giesbrecht of Morris. Frank is also survived by 7 nephews and nieces and numerous cousins.

He was predeceased by his father, Henry F. Klassen; his mother, Aganetha (nee Krahn) and 1 sister, Annie Armstrong and his step-brothers, Cornie Martin, John Martens, Jake Martens, Henry Martin, David D Martens, Peter Martin, and step-sisters Justina Friesen and Betty Wiebe.

Funeral service took place on Monday, March 5, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Winkler Bergthaler Mennonite Church with Rev. Peter Penner officiating.  Interment followed at Winkler Cemetery.

If friends so desire, donations may be made in Frank’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association 102 – 310 Broadway Winnipeg, MB R3C 0S6 or to the charity of one’s choice.
