Dianna Carol Hoeppner

Dianna Carol Hoeppner (nee Harder)

1953 - 2007

Hoeppner, Dianne2.jpgAfter a long and courageous battle with cancer, Dianne Hoeppner aged 53 years of Winkler passed away peacefully on Monday, April 30, 2007 at Boundary Trails Health Centre with her family at her side.

Dianne leaves to mourn her husband, Peter of Winkler; 3 sons, Nathan and Julia, Joel, Jaret; 3 sisters; 2 brothers, 1 sister-in-law, and their families.

She was predeceased by her oldest brother Irvin (2000) and her parents, Diedrich and Susan (nee Hiebert) Harder (2006).

Dianne was born at the Bethel Hospital in Winkler on October 15, 1953.  She was raised in the Ridgeville area on the family farm, the youngest of seven children.  She went to school in both Ridgeville and Emerson, and completed high school in Morden.  Immediately following her graduation, Dianne moved to Winnipeg and particularly enjoyed her employment at the CIBC bank.   It was also in Winnipeg that Dianne met and married her husband of 34 years, Peter.

In 1977, Dianne and Pete moved to Cartwright, where she very ably co-owned and operated Cartwright Pharmacy and The Corner Pocket.  With the arrival of their three sons over the next few years, Dianne thoroughly enjoyed being a full-time mom.  In 1982, Dianne and Pete moved to Altona, and then to Winkler in 1986.  When her sons were all in school, she began her career as an educational assistant.  This included the Reinfeld and Parkland elementary schools, and the Garden Valley Collegiate.  After her breast cancer diagnosis in 2001, fighting the disease became her full-time job.  In 2004, when it seemed that cancer was behind her and the boys had completed high school, she began a part-time job at Pharmasave.  She especially enjoyed her interaction with both staff and customers.  She loved people.

Throughout Dianne’s life, her faith in Christ was very important.  Her love for the Lord and her enthusiasm for life permeated her work both as an EA and as an employee at Pharmasave.  In May 2006, when cancer began another onslaught, her faith in God gave her the strength to fight even when she became very weary.  She put up a noble fight right to the end.

Funeral service was held on Friday, May 4, 2007 at 2:00 pm at Winkler Bergthaler Mennonite Church with Rev. Loren Guenther and Rev. Jake Friesen officiating.  Interment followed at Winkler Cemetery.

We express a heart-felt thanks to all Cancer Care staff at Boundary Trails as well as at CancerCare Manitoba in Winnipeg.
