Randal Louis Helps

1961 – 2007

Helps, RandySQ.jpgOn Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at his residence in Morden, MB, Randy Helps aged 46 years went to his eternal rest.

Randy was born in Halifax, NS on May, 2, 1961 the second child of Elgin and Joan Helps.  He lived in Dartmouth, NS.  The family moved to Calgary, AB in 1966 and then to Morden in 1972.  Randy married Shauna Harris of Cartwright, MB on December 27, 1989.  The following year, his daughter, Monica was born.

Randy enjoyed his career in autobody and was a real stickler for detail.  He later opened a car detailing shop, Prestige Automotive Reconditioning.  His customers were always amazed when their vehicles looked like new again.  If anyone had vehicle trouble he was always eager to help.  He developed a special interest in older cars, Jeeps and motorcycles.   Over the years his garage had been home to many derelict old motorcycles which Randy loved to get back into running condition.

Randy appreciated nature and had compassion for all living creatures.  He often took in injured birds and animals and nursed them back to health.

Randy loved to laugh and make others laugh.  His sense of humour was enjoyed by all who knew him.  He always had a willing ear for listening and showed genuine concern in everyone, especially those less fortunate than he.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Shauna (nee Harris) of Morden; 1 daughter, Monica; his mother Joan Helps; 1 sister, Patricia and Andrew Prokopchuk; and 1 brother, Richard and Lorraine Helps; 12 nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Elgin Helps and grandparents William Helps and Laura Chesson of Winnipeg and Louis and Marion Allan of Saint John, NB.

Cremation has taken place.  Memorial service was held on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at 2:00 pm at Wiebe Funeral Chapel, Morden with Father Wenceslao Rebillaco officiating.

If friends so desire, donations may be made in Randy’s memory to the Arthritis Society 105-386 Broadway Winnipeg, MB R3C 3R6.
