Robert Kroeker

1942 - 2005

Robert Kroeker.jpgRobert was fortunate to be born into a loving family on May 18, 1942 to Christian parents, John and Susan Kroeker; in their humble home in Plum Coulee, Manitoba.

Robert grew up following the mission mind that his father had. He also was able to master his private pilot's license, something that had remained only a dream of his father's. Robert inherited the graciousness and gentleness of his mother which he demonstrated in the relationship with his wife Verna, and his four children, Sylvia, Michael, Lori, and David.

Robert went to school in Kleefeld and Plum Coulee, completing Grades 11 and 12 at MCI, Gretna. He continued his education at Teacher’s College and later on at the University of Winnipeg which prepared him for a long career as a School Teacher of all ages during his lifetime.

After making a decision in his youth to follow the LORD, Robert was baptized upon the confession of his faith in 1961. His relationship with the LORD has always been genuine and his highest priority in life.

Robert was able to teach in various places in Southern and Northern Manitoba and also in Belize. In all these areas he also was busy with church involvement, as Sunday School Teacher, Choir director, deacon, lay-minister, counselor, youth sponsor, Bible Study leader, teaching Christian Growth classes etc. Wherever there was a need, he made himself available where he could. His servant attitude is what permeated his entire life.

It was while Robert and Verna were ministering in Shipyard, Belize that Robert fell ill towards the end of 2004, and was later diagnosed as having pancreatic cancer.

After a full life of varied experiences, he was able to finally go to be with his LORD on September 21, 2005 at 8:30 in the evening at Boundary Trails Health Centre with most of his immediate family around him. He reached the age of 63 years, 4 months, and 3 days.

Robert leaves to mourn his wife of 41 years, Verna, currently residing in Winkler Manitoba, two daughters Sylvia (Abe) Dyck of Blue Creek, Belize, Lori (Dale) Derksen of Winkler and two sons, Michael (Carmen) Kroeker of Altona area, David (Rebecca) Kroeker of Winkler; five grandsons and five granddaughters.

Funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at 11:00 am. at Altona EMM Church with Rev. Allan Kehler officiating.  Interment followed at the Bergfeld Cemetery.
