George B. Hoeppner

1915 – 2005

Hoeppner, George.jpgSuddenly on July 11, 2005 at the Boundary Trails Health Centre, George B. Hoeppner, aged 90 years of Morden, MB went home to be with his Lord and Saviour leaving a wonderful legacy.

George was born in Laird, SK on February 6, 1915 to Jacob and Katherine Hoeppner.  He spent his childhood south of Morden near Stanley Park and as an adult on a farm south of Mowbray.  AS his children grew he felt the need to move off the farm and into Morden to allow for educational opportunities.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 52 years, Mary Hoeppner (nee Wiens) of Morden; his three children and their families; daughter Kathy and Kel Neufeld Winkler and their three children, Chad and Monica, Tiffany and Steve, Mark and Stephanie; son, Cliff and Melanie Hoeppner of Thornhill and their 3 children Marlo, Nathan, Kelly; son, Ed and Sharon Hoeppner of Winnipeg and their 2 children Cameron and Mikaela; his sister, Martha Shaw and brother, Ben Hoeppner, numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, 6 sisters and 2 brothers.

George was a quiet, gentle person with a good sense of humor.  He enjoyed the out of doors and spending time with nature.  His children and grandchildren were very precious to him and in the last while his hugs were getting a little longer and tighter.

Dad was a man of deep and quiet faith.  He lived his faith daily.  He was a man of integrity and principle.  He cared about those who suffered and were less fortunate.

Funeral services for George B. Hoeppner were held on Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 2:00 pm at the Morden Mennonite Church with Otto Hamm officiating.  Interment followed at the Southside Cemetery.

As a family we would like to express our sincere thanks to the ambulance staff and the staff at Boundary Trails Health Centre for your compassion and care.  Thank you to Otto Hamm and Linda Petkau for helping to make the service a celebration of his life.  Thank you also to Wiebe Funeral Home for their care and compassion during this difficult time.  Thanks to all who visited, sent food, cards, flowers and made contributions to the Eden Foundation.  Your words of encouragement will not be forgotten.
