Maria Fehr

1929 – 2005

Fehr, Mary.jpgOn Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at Salem Home Maria “Mary” Fehr aged 76 years passed away after a lengthy illness.

Mary was born to Johann and Maria Fehr on November 21, 1929 in Roseville, MB, the fourth child in a family of 10.  She was baptized upon the confession of her faith in Jesus Christ in 1948 in the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church, Schoenthal, MB.  For 17 years, she lived with her parents, brothers and sister in the Roseville district.  In 1948, she moved along with the family to Schoenweise until 1966 when they moved to Friedensfeld.  After dad passed away in 1983, she was a great comfort to mom.  After mom passed away in 1998, she moved into an apartment in Winkler.  When she could no longer look after herself even with homecare, she moved to Salem Home in May of 2003.  A year later she was diagnosed with cancer.  Since it was too far advanced, no treatment was recommended.  She passed away peacefully with 2 of her sisters by her bedside.

She leaves to mourn her passing 3 sisters Anna and Diedrich Thiessen of La Crete, AB, Edith and Isaac Martens of Winkler, Sarah and David Peters of Friedensfeld; 2 brothers John and Nettie of Plum Coulee, Diedrich and Susan of Altona; David’s wife, Mary and family of Rosengard, Jake’s wife Katherine and husband Dave Friesen and families of Winkler, Isaac’s wife Susie and family of Morden and Helen’s husband Art Eberling and family of Elm Creek.

She was predeceased by her parents and 3 brothers David, Jake and Isaac and 1 sister, Helen.

God granted her wishes that she would stay in her right mind and celebrate Christmas once more.

Funeral service was held Saturday, December 31, 2005 at 11:00 am at Reinland Mennonite Church with Bishop William Friesen and Rev. Jake Wiebe officiating.  Interment followed at Reinland Mennonite Church Cemetery, Schanzenfeld.

We would like to express our sincere thank for all the love, prayers and support shown to use.  Special thanks to the pallbearers, ushers, ministers, songleaders, Salem staff and Wiebe Funeral Home for all your kind and courteous service.  It is much appreciated.
