On Oct. 30, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer, Mom passed away at the Fort Gary Care Centre.  She will be sadly missed by her husband Arnold Carter, her children Dennis (Bonnie), daughter-in-law Debbie, Debbie (Al), Gary (Linda), Bonny, Sherry (Don), thirteen grand-children and six great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by six step-children and nine-step grandchildren.  She was pre-deceased by her first husband Harvey William Cowan in 1992 and son Ronnie in July 2005.

Vi was born and raised in Mobray Sept. 16, 1933 to Albert and Hilda Swayze.  She is survived by four brothers Clifford, Les, Allan, Dwayne and sister Corrine along with many nephews and nieces.  She was pre-deceased by sisters Mable and Doris and brothers Henry and Clarence.

Mom worked at Jordan’s store for many years and then continued her career as a professional cook.  She was a true country lady, always happy to welcome everyone into her home.  She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed bingo and gambling.

Cremation has taken place.  Memorial service was held on Saturday, November 5, 2005 at Zion-Calvin United Church in Darlingford at 2:00 pm with Karen Tjaden officiating.  Inurnment followed at the Darlingford Cemetery.

If friends and family so desire, donations may be made in Vi’s memory to the Fort Garry Care Centre, Staff Fund 1776 Pembina Hwy. Winnipeg, MB R3T 2G2.
