Martin was born in Winkler on July 26, 1955. He grew up in Winkler, completing grade 9 at garden Valley Collegiate. His father passed away when Martin was 18 years old so Martin lived with his mother, taking various casual labor jobs. While working in the potato industry, he was backed into by a potato truck and received injuries that limited his motor coordination.  In his twenties Martin moved to Winnipeg. On January 22, 1991 he married Jacqueline Vivier, the love of his life. Earlier this year they moved back to Winkler. They were inseparable and, as recently as two months ago, could be seen walking hand in hand through some of Winkler’s walking paths. Earlier this summer Martin prayed to receive Christ as Savior. Both he and Jackie were baptized on July 24th• Martin always loved visits with family and friends. When his grandchildren came over he could often be overheard saying, “They just made my day!” He loved animals and would have pets whenever possible. He had an amazing memory, a caring attitude and an unforgettable smile. Martin, you will be lovingly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew you.
