Jacob Froese.jpgJacob Froese went to his eternal home on May 26, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. at Salem Home in Winkler.  Jacob Froese was born October 24, 1913 in Neuhorst, MB.  He was 9 years old when he moved with his parents to Mexico.  Jacob was the oldest son of Jacob and Margaretha Froese.  Dad was baptized upon confession of faith on May 21, 1934 in the village of Neuhorst , Cuauhtemoc, Chihuahua Mexico, by Bishop Johan Friesen.  He married Agatha Epp on December 16, 1934 in the village of Kronsthal Mexico.

 Jacob & Agatha were blessed with three sons and eight daughters.  Jacob was predeceased by his wife Agatha on September 23, 1993, one son and six daughters and three grandchildren in infancy.  He leaves to mourn his passing  Jacob & Elisabeth Froese, Peter & Katharina Froese, Maria & Jake Thiessen and Susan & Juan Neufeld all of Winkler, two sons-in-law Abram Martens of Alberta, Bernhard Fehr of Mexico, one daughter-in-law Katharina Fehr of Morden, MB and 31 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.

In 1938 Mom & Dad moved to the village of Kronsgart, Mexico where they lived and farmed till 1977.  On June 6, 1977 they moved to Coaldale, Alberta where they resided till April of 1980 at which time they moved to Winkler, Manitoba.  In 1981 Mom & Dad joined the membership at The Zion Mennonite Church in Schanzenfeld, Manitoba. 

After mom died dad experienced a gradual decline in his health, where he gradually lost his eyesight due to his diabetes. January 26, 1998 dad moved to the Salem Home in Winkler where he has spent the last years of his life.  In the last few years dad’s health continued to decline and his longing was to go to his heavenly Father and his loved ones in Heaven.

2 Timothy 4: 7-8

7I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day--and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.  

Funeral service was held on Saturday, May 29, 2004 at the Zion Mennonite Church, Schanzenfeld. Interment followed at the Zion Church Cemetery.

Heartfelt thanks; to the Salem staff at Maple and Evergreen, for their wonderful care. Thank also to Rev. David Friesen for his spiritual care, which was really appreciated by dad and family. Thank you also to Pastors Bill Thiessen and Wilbert Friesen, the song-leaders, pianist and the serving ladies.
