Rev. Jacob Dyck

1925 – 2004

Rev. Jacob Dyck.jpgOn Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at the Boundary Trails Health Centre, Rev. Jacob Dyck, aged 78 years, of Morden, MB formerly of Stephenfield, MB passed away to his heavenly home to be with his Lord, after a lengthy illness.

Dad was born on Nov. 8th 1925 to Herman and Anna Dyck.  He was baptized on June 14, 1946 upon confession of his faith.  He married Margaret Giesbrecht on Oct. 28, 1951, and shared joys and sorrows for over 52 years.

On April 25, 1976 he was ordained as a minister in the Sommerfeld Mennonite Church and served until his health failed.  Dad truly enjoyed sharing the gospel with others, so they could come to the faith in Christ.

One of his favorite verses was John 5:24, “Verily, verily I say unto you, he that heareth my word and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life”.

He also enjoyed farming.  Combining corn was a favorite and giving the grandchildren combine rides was very special.

The family was a very special part of Dad’s life.  He loved, appreciated and encouraged us even when he was very ill.  He was always there for us, helping us in his own way.  Dad took the time for the grandchildren making them feel special by listening, reading and telling them stories.

Dad and Mom farmed in the Stephenfield area until April, 2003 when they sold the farm and moved to Morden.

Dad leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Margaret Dyck (nee Giesbrecht) of Morden; 6 daughters; Margaret of Morden; Anna and Arnold Wiebe, Candice, Byron and Michael of McGregor; Susan of Morden; Elizabeth and John Lemky, Matthew, Brian and Janice of Stephenfield; Mary and Don Ginter, Adam and Jerusha of Altona; Jessie and Cliff Harms, Ryan, Travis, Merlin and Shauna of Dominion City.   Also surviving are four brothers, two sisters and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Herman and Anna Dyck; 2 sisters; 2 brothers.

Funeral service was held on Saturday, July 24, 2004 at the Winkler Sommerfeld Mennonite Church at 2:00 pm with Rev. Abe Wiebe and Rev. Abe Janzen officiating. Interment followed at Rosenbach Cemetery.

If friends so desire donations may be made to the Sommerfeld Church Missions or a charity of ones choice

The family would like to thank you for all the prayer support, visitations, cards and phone calls our families and Dad received during his illness and after.  The family would also like to thank the hospital staff of Boundary Trails Health Centre.

All was very much appreciated.  May God bless you all!

Wiebe Funeral Home, Winkler in care of arrangements.
