Jordan Dalke

1987- 2004

Jordan dalke (2).jpgIt is with deep sadness and much sorrow that we announce the death of our son and brother, Jordan Levi Dalke. Jordan left this earth and entered heaven on November 27, 2004 at the age of 17.

Jordan was born on May 21, 1987 to Irvin and Grace Dalke. He was welcomed and cared for by his 2 older sisters Kari and Kim.

Jordan loved life from day one and lived it to the absolute fullest. He was a happy baby who grew into a happy child and young man with an incredible sense of humor and sharp whit. He loved to laugh and those around him had no choice but to join in.

Jordan was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at the age of 10 weeks. Perhaps knowing this made him aware of spiritual matters beyond what children and young adults normally are concerned with; heaven and God’s love have always been his reality. One of the last things Jordan communicated was, “Don’t be sad. I’m going to heaven.” What a challenge…what an assurance.

Jordan did not want his disease to slow him down. He loved and participated in soccer, baseball and hockey. Being part of a team and connecting with his peers was a highlight in his life. His interests were many and varied. He loved dirt-biking, paint-balling, cars, golfing, hunting and playing video games. He also enjoyed driving machinery and the times he spent helping his dad on the field.

Jordan was anticipating grad and then attending university next fall. He had great plans for the future. Over the past 5 months however Jordan’s health deteriorated and he was hospitalized repeatedly. Many friends showed their support and loyalty by visiting him and spending time with him.

Jordan has always expressed his affection freely. As a family we knew we were loved and in return he knew that he was very special, cared for and deeply loved. He will be missed beyond measure by his parents, Irv and Grace, his sisters, Kari and Kim, and his brother-in-law, Colin. Jordan will also be mourned by his grandparents, Arnold and Nettie Dalke of Morden and Helen Nickel of Winkler, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends, including Brent Gerbrandt and Adam Heide.

Funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at 2:00pm at the Morden Mennonite Church. Interment followed at Herald Cemetery.

As a family, we would like to express our deep gratitude for the many prayers offered on Jordan’s behalf. Thank you to all our friends for the incredible support given to our family over the past 17 years.

Wiebe Funeral Chapel, Morden in care of arrangements.
