Elsie Aileen Kidd

1923 - 2003

Peacefully in her sleep on May 30, 2003 with her family at her side.  Elsie Aileen (nee Lamb) Kidd passed away at Boundary Trails Health Centre.

Aileen was born in Estevan SK on July 27, 1923.  She was the eldest daughter to Richard and Elva Lamb.  Several years later the family moved to Birch River, Mb. where her education was obtained until she graduated from High School.  Upon graduation, Aileen continued to further her education at Success Business School in Winnipeg.  Upon her graduation as a legal secretary she moved to Morden and was employed for several years with the law firm of McAuley and Westwood.

In 1946 she married Andrew Kidd and settled on a farm in the Darlingford District until 1977.  Aileen served as a volunteer on many committees and organizations such as Boy Scouts and Little League Baseball.  Over the years she was involved as secretary and/or treasurer of Manitou Golf Club, United Church Presbytery, United Way, and acted as census commissioner on two occasions.  She taught and was involved with the Sunday School program for 20 years or more.  In 1977 they retired to Manitou and for the next 25 years she spent many days on the local golf courses with Andrew and their friends.  Aileen and Andrew wintered many years in Texas and Arizona and she met and renewed friends and friendships over these years.  She moved along with Andrew to Morden in 2002 and took an active part in the Friendship Centre until she had to give it up due to ill health.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband Andrew of 56 years; and two sons Gregory (Ellenor); Barry (Elaine), one granddaughter Kimberly; two grandsons, Andrew (Kristy and three daughters); and Michael.  Also she leaves to mourn sisters Norma, Gwen, Barbara and Judy; and brothers Edwin, Lester and Omar.

Aileen was predeceased by her parents; brother Clive; and two daughter-in-laws Donna and Henrietta.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or Canadian Diabetes Association.

Memorial service was held on Saturday, June 7, 2003, 2:00pm at the St. Thomas Anglican Church, Morden, Mb with Rev. Brian Minaker officiating.

Cremation has taken place and interment took place in the family plot at Darlingford Cemetery.
