Mary Wiebe

1908 - 2003

Mary was born on a farm in the Kronsgart area.  Her parents were Isaac and Aganetha Braun (nee Dueck).  She was the youngest and only girl in a family of eight children.  She was 11 years old when her father passed away in 1919.  They moved to the Burwalde area and later to Winkler.  She married George Wiebe on August 26, 1928.  After a number of disappointing tries at farming in the 1930's they moved to Winkler.  In the spring of 1945 they returned to the Rosewell (Kronsgart M.B. Church) area where they farmed successfully until retirement in Winkler in 1974.  Her husband George, passed away in 1980.  Mary moved to Lions Manor when it opened in 1982 and made it her home until the Lord called her to her eternal home with Him.                                                                                            

George and Mary raised four children, a fifth dying in infancy.  Mary was predeceased by her parents and all1 7 brothers, her infant son Geordie at the age of 6 months in 1933, and one grandson, Shaun Vandrunen, age 20, in 1999.  Mary is survived by her 4 children, 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.  She was loved by all who were close to her and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

Funeral service was held Friday April 11, 2003, 2:00pm at Winkler M.B. Church, Rev. Ted Goossen and Pastor Gary Loewen officiating.  Interment followed at the Bloomfield-Rosewell Cemetery.  Donations may be made to M.C.C. or to Campus Crusade for Christ.
