Tina Margaret (Wiebe) Braun

1915-2001

Tina was born on January 5th, 1915 in the Winkler area to Jacob G. and Sarah (Dyck) Wiebe. She was the second youngest of a family of eight surviving children. She grew up on a farm northeast of Winkler in the Kronsgart area where work was the norm and everyone was expected to do their share. Her home had a strong Christian influence and after accepting Christ as her Saviour in her younger years she was baptized on July 12th, 1931 and became a member of the Kronsgart MB Church. She furthered her spiritual life by going to Winkler Bible School.

As her older siblings left home and began their own homes, the work load of the farm required extra help. She fell in love with the hired hand and was married to Jacob G. Braun on May 12, 1940. They first moved to Winkler, then the Plum Coulee area, and then settled on a farm north of Plum Coulee in approximately 1945. They were blessed with three children. After the birth of their last child, she became ill with crippling rheumatoid arthritis. It became her constant companion for the rest of her life. Many times it caused her to rely on the help of others to whom she was thankful. From markings in her Bible it was apparent she found comfort and strength in the God whom she trusted.

Jake and Tina moved to Winkler in 1974 where they lived together until 1996 when she was predeceased by her husband. She moved to Lions Manor and she was able to live by herself until illness in 2000 forced her to move to the Winkler Salem Home. She found it difficult to have to rely totally on the help of others. She appreciated the help she received from staff and friends during her stay there.

She went to be with the Lord on July 12, 2001 after a very brief illness. She leaves to mourn her three children, Walter and his wife Marilyn and their family, Wilma and her husband Larry Reynolds and their family, Ron and his wife Lynne and their family, by seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, all her siblings, and her husband of 56 years together. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Funeral service was held on Tuesday July 17, 2001, 2:00pm, at Winkler M.B. Church, with Pastor Ted Goossen & Pastor Victor Neufeld officiating. Interment followed at the Winkler Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan.
