Sidney "Sid" White
On Tuesday, November 13, 2001, at Tabor Home, Sidney "Sid" Arthur Miller White, age 87 years, of Morden, formerly of Thornhill, went to his eternal rest.
Born to Sam and Rosetta White August 12, 1914 the youngest of 5 children on the farm south of Thornhill. In 1936 he married Verna Affleck and bought a farm near his brothers. He farmed there until they moved to Morden in 1967. Their four children were born and grew up on the farm; eldest Charlene married Milton Moores and lived in Manitou; son Ray and wife Sharon live on the home farm; Patricia married Jim Gibson and live in Kenora; youngest Janice married Bill Dziver and live in Winnipeg.
Sid and Verna moved to Morden in 1967 when Ray married, and there he operated and small appliance repair business from his home, and drove a school bus. He always-enjoyed music and most of his life he played banjo in the Thornhill Orchestra. In September 1996 they sold their home on 8th St. and moved in a new condominium on 9th St. "Park Place" until Sid was hospitalized in October 1997 and then he moved to Tabor Home.
He leaves to mourn his passing his 3 daughters, Charlene (Milton) Moores of Manitou; Pat and husband Jim Gibson of Kenora; Janice and husband Bill Dziver of Winnipeg; 1 son Ray and wife Sharon of Morden; and 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by wife Verna White (nee Affleck) in 1998; son in-law Milton in 2001; and 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Funeral service was held on Friday, November 16th at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Paul's United Church, Morden, with Jeri Bjornson officiating. Interment followed at the Hillside Cemetery.
