Martha was born on April 28, 1921 at Kleinstaedt, Mb (Lowe Farm area), the 8th child in a family of 11 children on her parents’ farm.

Martha married George G. Elias at the Rudnerweider Church, Reinland, Mb on October 10, 1943.  They made their home on the family farm at Haskett where they raised their family and continued to live to the present.

She was a creative and artistic person who enjoyed crafts as well as being known for her culinary skills.  Gardening was one of her great pleasures.  What we all will remember about Martha is her counsel, her gracious caring, her hospitality, and her true friendship. Her beauty as a person lay in her compassion and genuine kindness, and in the teachings of the lessons of life as she counselled and mentored us in her quiet way.   She had that uncanny ability to make people feel good.  It is of these memories that we will always cherish her spirit.

We thank God for Mom who loved all, with the same love God gave her.  She showed this by a lifetime of… "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."  Through her giving, her spirit will always be in our hearts.  Faith, hope and love will always remain, the greatest of these is love!  Though she may have had a weak body at times, her spirit will always be strong.

Her family wishes to thank the staff of Boundary Trails Hospital, Health Sciences Centre, and Riverview Health Centre for their kind and compassionate care during her stay.

Funeral service was held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 1st, at the Winkler EMM Church, 600 Southview Drive, Winkler, Mb with Pastors Harold Doerksen and Jerry Hildebrand presiding.  Interment in the family plot at the Winkler Cemetery following the service.  A gathering of family and friends followed in the basement of the church.
