Susan Myra “Mackie” Forrest (nee McLeod)
It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Mackie Forrest aged 82 years, beloved wife of Allan. She passed away quietly after a brief illness with her family at her side on Wednesday December 3, 1997 at the Morden District General Hospital.
Mackie was predeceased by her parents in 1971; by six brothers Dick, Doug, Walt, Ken, Donnie & Bob and by 2 sisters Kathleen & Marguerite.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 55 years, Allan; her daughter Donna Jean Cobb and children David & Susan; 2 sons Larry Forrest and children Shawna, Jamie, Larry & Michelle and her husband Cam Kauenhofen (children Bryson, Jacinda, Dalton & Brielle); son Ross & Janet Forrest and children Jennifer & Christopher.
She is also survived by her brother Murray & wife Shirley McLeod, as well as by many nieces & nephews. She will also be greatly missed by her special friends Ede Balfour & Bernice Webb.
Mackie was born in Cabri, Sk. She graduated from Morden Freemason’s Hospital in 1939 as a registered nurse. She farmed with her husband for many years on the family farm north of Manitou and was also employed by Feed Right Mills for a number of years.
Mackie loved to be outdoors and spent many enjoyable hours tending her flowers and looking after her puppies. She curled for many years and was very involved with the Manitou Curling Club. Mackie also enjoyed decorating her house and yard at Christmas time and her “Christmas Lights” were enjoyed by many visitors. Mackie loved children, especially babies and she was very involved with her grandchildren & greatgrandchildren.
Funeral service was held on Friday December 5, 1997 at 11:00am at the St. Andrew’s United Church Manitou with Rev. Bev Simpson officiating. Interment followed at the Manitou Cemetery.
