Dr. Robert George Day
With deep sorrow, the family of Dr. Robert Day announce his accidental passing on October 28, 1997.
Bob was born in Winnipeg, June 26, 1949. He attended grade school in St. James and graduated from the U of M School of Dentistry in 1974.
Bob and his wife, Michele, were married in 1975 and settled in Winkler where Bob had opened his dental practice in the Winkler Clinic. He and his wife raised their family in the town of Winkler where he became a well-respected dentist and a valued and loved member of the community.
Bob had many varied interests especially his profound love for music. He and his brother Dan organized the “The Impact” dance band when Bob was only 15 years of age. Bob played with the Assiniboia Concert Band since 1967. Through the years he was also associated with “The Executive” Orchestra, The Belgian Club Band, the Prairie Red Coats and George Sanders Orchestra, and the Royal Winnipeg Rifles Band.
He touched many lives through his involvement in Air Cadets, Jim Whitecross #6 Squadron, Royal Canadian Legion #4, Past Master Shilo Lodge #70 at Roland, Scottish Rite and the Shrine. He was a past President and life member of the Kinsmen Club of Winkler, and served on the District #2 Executive, Kinsmen Clubs of Canada.
Bob played a major role in the planning and building of the new Trinity Lutheran Church in Winkler. The Dedication of the Church on October 26 was very meaningful and fulfilling to him.
Bob leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory, his wife Michele, son Darren, daughter Heather, his parents George and Maxine Day, his brother Daniel, wife Maureen and their children Mathiew and Colleen. Also his parents-in-law, Peter and Edna Kozyra, brother-in-law David Kosyra, wife Connie and their children, Benjamin, Maggie, and Patrick, along with other relatives and many, many good friends. Bob was a very caring and loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend and we all miss him dearly.
Funeral service was held at 11:00am on Saturday, November 1st, 1997 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Winkler (corner of Pineview an Southview Drive) Rev. Fraser Coltman officiating.
Active Pallbearers were Alfred Peters, Jack Wiebe, Gene Wiebe, Ray Doell, Reg Kendrick, and David Kozyra.
Honorary Pallbearers were all the persons with whom he was associated through the years in band, Kinsmen, and the Masons.
