William J. Giesbrecht

1937 – 2008

In the early morning hours of Thursday, March 27, 2008, Bill Giesbrecht aged 70 years of Morden, MB, formerly of Snowflake and Manitou, beloved husband of Adena, passed away at Boundary Trails Health Centre.

Bill was born November 5, 1937, in Rosengart, MB, to parents, Jacob and Mary (nee Schellenberg).  He was the second born of thirteen siblings.  Bill spent his childhood years and attended school in Haskett, MB.  He met and married his wife, Adena (nee Fehr), on May 28, 1961.  During their 16 years of farming in Snowflake, MB, they raised their family of three sons, Brad, Sheldon and Jeff.  In 1989, he moved to Manitou with his wife and youngest son, Jeff.  He enjoyed using his handyman talents in Manitou caring for the Manitou schoolyards and the Pembina/Manitou Health Centre.  In 2003, Bill retired and together with Adena they made their final move to Morden, MB.

Bill had an intense love for his family and took great pleasure in watching his sons grow into family men of their own.  He enjoyed the company of all his grandchildren, sharing stories and laughing at their many adventures.  He was looking forward to picking fresh fruit all year long in Heaven.

Bill will be forever missed by his loving wife, Adena; his mother, Mary Fehr; sons, Brad (Jill), Sheldon (Terri) and Jeff (Crystal); grandchildren, William and Nicholas, Keegan and Kashtin, Brandee and Braeden; his surviving brothers and sisters, his many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father, Jacob and two siblings.

A private family burial took place on Monday, March 31, 2008 followed by a memorial service at Westside Community Church.

Donations in memory of Bill may be made to a charity of your choice.
