Wilbert Roy Seymour

1914 – 2008

 

On Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at Tabor Home in Morden, MB Roy Seymour aged 94 years formerly of Thornhill went to his eternal rest.

 

Roy Seymour was born on April 9, 1914 and raised north of Manitou.  In 1941, he married Beatrice Collins of Darlingford.  They lived in Winnipeg and dad worked at the Cordite Plant in Transcona.  In June 1942, he joined th armed forces with the 5th Canadian Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment serving in England, Italy, Belgium and Holland.  He was also a member of the Morden Royal Canadian Legion Branch 11.  In 1946, dad bought E ½ of 24-3-7W and farmed there until 1979.  Both dad and mom enjoyed eight winters at McAllen, Texas.  They also enjoyed spending time at their cabin at Pelican Lake.  In 1987, they moved to Legion House in Morden.  In November of 2006, due to failing health, dad became a resident of Tabor Home.  Dad loved curling, playing pool with his friends at the Morden Friendship Centre, playing cards, fishing and baseball.

 

He leaves to mourn his passing 3 sons, Larry and Marie of Darlingford, Ron and Marilyn of Maple Ridge, BC, Murray and Susan of Darlingford; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Gladys and Ralph Scharf of Killarney and 1 brother-in-law,

Ralph (Dorothy) Collins.

 

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Beatrice in 1999; 1 son, Vernon in infancy; 1 sister; 2 brothers.

 

Cremation has taken place.  Memorial service was held on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Wiebe Funeral Chapel 1050 Thornhill St. in Morden.  Interment followed at at Darlingford Cemetery.
