Tina “Katie” Nickel (nee Friesen)
1923 - 2008

Thursday, June 5, 2008 Katie Nickel aged 85 years, passed into her eternal rest
at her residence at Salem Home.
Katie was born to her parents, Jacob and Agatha (nee Schroeder) Friesen at Lowe Farm on April 22, 1923, and as a teenager was baptized upon the confession of her faith in Jesus Christ and became a member of the Sommerfelder Church. She remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life.
On October 22, 1944 she was united in marriage to George T. Doerksen. Three daughters were born into this marriage. After George’s death in 1984, she married Jacob C. Nickel on June 4, 1988. This marriage ended tragically in 1991 when Jacob died as a result of a motor vehicle accident.
Katie was predeceased by her first husband George T. Doerksen, by her second husband Jacob C. Nickel, her parents, two brothers and one grandson in infancy.
In her passing, she leaves to mourn her 3 daughters, Agatha and Gordon Suderman, Susan and Marvin Murdy, Margaret and Harvey Dyck, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three sisters, one brother and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Winkler Mennonite Church with Reverend Abe Reimer and Reverend David Friesen officiating. Interment followed at Winkler Cemetery.
