Isaac M. Friesen

1920 – 2008

 

On Tuesday, April 22, 2008, 2 days after his 88th birthday and with his family present.  Isaac M. Friesen passed away peacefully at Boundary Trails Health Centre.

 

Isaac was born April 20, 1920 in Wynmark, SK.  He emigrated to Mexico with his parents in 1926.  He was baptized upon confession of his faith by Bishop Isaac Dyck in 1942.  On June 28, 1942, he married his childhood friend and sweetheart, Sarah Wiebe.  They had 3 children born to them in Mexico, they moved to Canada in 1954.  They had 5 more children bringing the total to 8 children; 5 boys, 3 girls.

 

Dad made his living and supported the family as a carpenter for m any years and later developed a manufacturing business south of Winkler.  Mom and dad retired an moved to Winkler in 1982.

 

Isaac will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Sarah of Winkler; daughters, Tina and Isaac Dyck of Winkler, Helen and Fred Peters of Reinfeld, Sally and Warren Wiebe of Winkler; sons, Abe and Tina, Richard and Tina, Jake and Mary Anne, Henry and Gloria, all of Winkler, Victor and Colleen of Morden; 25 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 1 sister and many nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral service was held on Saturday April 26, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Winkler Bergthaler Mennonite Church.  Interment took place at Westridge Memorial Gardens in Winkler.
