Rev. Peter P. Giesbrecht
1922 - 2007
On
November 1, 2007 at Boundary Trails Health Centre, Rev. Peter P. Giesbrecht of
Winkler, MB formerly of Bergfeld passed away peacefully, following a struggle
with cancer and finally kidney failure.
He was a most loved husband to Anne, his wife of 58 years. He lived a life dedicated to serving his God and this commitment showed itself in all aspects of his life. Always well-known for his music, he for years sang with Anne on the radio, in churches, and as outreach in jails. He directed many church choirs and served as teacher, leader, lay pastor, missionary in Belize and Mexico, ordained pastor in Aylmer and Kitchener, Ontario, board member, and other leadership positions for the EMMC church. Peter survived several major health challenges over the last 9 years but never complained and even in hospital was asking after the health and well-being of others. He and Anne lived for God, and to serve others. Humility, caring and love were what characterized their every thought and action.
He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife, Anne Giesbrecht (nee Bergman) of Winkler, 1 daughter, Shirley and Albert Penner (children, Carissa, Lara, Scott) of Lorette; 2 sons, Ron and Suzanne Giesbrecht (children, Paige, Alexandria, Benjamin) of Chilliwack, BC, Dennis and Elizabeth Giesbrecht (daughter, Laura) of Toronto, ON as well as 5 sisters and 4 brothers.
He was predeceased by his parents, Peter W. and Susan (nee Penner) Giesbrecht; 1 brother, Henry, and 1 sister, Susan.
Funeral services were held at the Winkler EMM Church, on Monday, November 5, 2007 at 1:00 pm. Interment was at the Bergfeld Church Cemetery.
