Muriel Kathleen Johnston (nee Finley)
1919 - 2007
On
Monday, December 3, 2007 at Boundary Trails Health Centre Muriel Johnston of
Morden, MB formerly of the Mowbray district went to her eternal rest.
Muriel was born on November 17, 1919 in the Mowbray district. One of eight children, she lived there all of her life until 10 years ago when she and Stu, her loving husband of 64 years moved to Morden.
Muriel Finley and Stuart Johnston were married on July 6, 1940. Four children were born of their union, Myrna, Stan, Mel and Nancy.
Muriel was an active partner in the farming operation for 57 years until the move to Morden. She was a hard worker who was also actively involved with the community, school and church. In later years, she did extensive work on the history of both branches of her family and her personal knowledge of many of the people and events of that history will be sorely missed.
Although she was involved in many other activities throughout her life, family always came first for Muriel. Her interest in what was going on in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren remained strong. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
She leaves to mourn her passing 2 daughters, Myrna and Gordon Thompson of Calgary, AB, Nancy and Laurie Rendall of Manitou; 2 sons, Stan and Joyce Johnston of Okotoks, AB, Mel and Gloria Johnston of Darlingford; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren as well as 1 sister and 2 brothers.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Stuart (2004); 1 sister and 3 brothers.
Funeral service was held on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at 11:00 am at Westside Community Church with Rev. Konrad Loewen and Rev, Gerald Dyck officiating. Interment followed at Jackson Cemetery.
