Katie Johanna Reimer (nee Wiebe)
1910 – 2006

Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at Concordia Hospital in Winnipeg, Katie Reimer (nee
Wiebe) of Donwood Manor in Winnipeg, MB, aged 96 years went to her eternal rest.
Katie was born in the Ukraine and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1926. She worked in Winnipeg for 6 years. On September 17, 1933 she married Richard Lehmann Reimer.
Katie and Richard lived the majority of their married life and retirement years in Kleefeld where they enjoyed their garden and acres of trees. Shortly after Richard’s death, Katie moved to her own apartment in Donwood Manor Independent Living in Winnipeg where she lived until the end.
Mom will fondly be remembered by all who knew her for her kindness, wit and determination. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren gave her much joy and she will sadly be missed.
She leaves to mourn her passing her 3 daughters, Louise and Leander Rempel of Homer, Alaska (Debra and Jerry Vantrease of Homer, Alaska, Barry and Ruth Rempel of Glenallan, Alaska, Sherri ands Mitch Cox of Glenallan, Alaska), Ruth and John Ens of Winnipeg (Mike and Kendra of Winnipeg, Dave and Nicole of Brandon, Cynthia and Kori Buhler of La Salle), Kathleen Galbraith Robertson and Michael Robertson of Sherwood Park, AB (Jayson and Cheryl of Tofield, AB, Kenneth and Becky of Sherwood Park, AB) and Lorna’s children, (Tom and Glenda Kruetzer of Texas, Leslie and Josh Waddington of Chillwack, BC); 24 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Ann Klassen of Vineland, ON and Helen DeFehr of Donwood Manor as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard (1999); her eldest daughter, Lorna Kreutzer (1988); son-in-law, John Lynn Galbraith (1997); 3 sisters and 3 brothers.
Viewing and a time to remember will be held at Donwood Manor 171 Donwood Dr. Sunday June 17 at 6:30 pm. A service to celebrate Katie’s life will be held on Monday, June 18 at 11:00 am at McIvor Mennonite Brethren Church 200 McIvor Ave.in Winnipeg followed by a fellowship lunch. Interment will follow at Kleefeld E.M.C. Cemetery.
A special thank you to the many homecare workers, who so kindly looked after her needs. Mother enjoyed so much the companionship and love she experienced at Donwood Manor. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Shawn Thomas and the medical staff at Concordia Hospital.
