He made many friends through his years in business in this community; first at Wheel Estates, then Fehr Ford Sales in Morden, and later at Sun Valley RV.

He married Susan Unger on March 19, 1960 and was baptized upon the confession of his faith June 12, 1960 in the Winkler Sommerfeld Mennonite Church.

Dad taught Sunday School for 8 years in Winkler and was a song leader of the Morden Sommerfeld Mennonite Church for the last 25 years.  His passion for singing was extremely difficult for him to give up when he became ill.  He enjoyed going to church, singing, traveling, camping, gardening and woodwork.  Dad’s family; his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all his brothers and sisters were most important to him.

Funeral service was held Monday, November 13, 2006 at 11:00 am at the Winkler Sommerfeld Mennonite Church with Bishop Peter Heppner and Rev. John Friesen officiating.  Interment followed at Neuenberg Cemetery.

We the family would like to express our sincerest thanks and appreciation to the ministerial, the church family, doctors and nurses, cancer care and friends and the many others who prayed and offered encouragement and support.
