Emma Walkof (nee Link)
1920 – 2006
On Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at Salem Home after a lingering illness, Emma Walkof (nee Link) aged of 85 years of Winkler went to her eternal rest.
Emma was born on February 24, 1920 in a log cabin on the family farm in the Brown district also known as the 1-6, twelve miles southwest of Morden to Karl and Natalie Link.
She leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband of 65 years, John Walkof of Winkler; 1 daughter Janice Friesen of Winnipeg; 2 sons Karl (Bev) Walkof of Blumstein, John (Annette) Walkof of Winnipeg; 5 grandchildren, Stephanie (fiancé Corey Hildebrand), Tara (Arthur), Devon, Kelsey (Melanie), Alden; 2 great grandchildren, Corwyn and Keaton; 5 sisters Hertha Hemminger, Edna Swayze, Esther and Andy Giesbrecht, Alice and Jim Grierson, Grace and Jim Brooks; 1 brother Arthur Link and 1 sister-in-law Grace Reimer and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father Karl (1938), her mother Natalia (1987); 2 sisters in infancy Lydia and Erna; 1 sister Ruth Gall (1990) and 2 brothers Gus Link (1981) and Harold Link (1987).
Funeral service was held on Friday, January 13, 2006 at 1:00 pm at Wiebe Funeral Chapel, Morden with Rev. Morris Vincent officiating. Interment followed at Winkler Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank all the staff at Salem Home and Boundary Trails Health Centre for the excellent care Emma received during her stay.
