Annie Driedger (nee Janzen)

1927 - 2006

On Thursday, November 9, 2006, Annie Driedger (nee Janzen) aged 79 years of Winkler formerly of Neuhorst, passed away peacefully at Boundary Trails Health Center.

Annie was born on March 11, 1927 in Neuhorst, MB to Jacob and Sarah Janzen (nee Martens).  She was baptized upon confession of her faith and was a longstanding member of the Blumenort Mennonite Church.  On October 15, 1950, she married Frank Driedger.  They resided in Neuhorst where they farmed and raised a family of three boys.  When they retired in 1990, they moved to Winkler.

Mom’s greatest joy came from serving God and having God work through her.  She has made countless visits to hospitals, care homes and people’s houses.  This was only interrupted by her own battles with cancer and heart surgery.  Even in her times of extreme illness, her first concern was always for her family.  She was an inspirational example of God’s love to her family, friends and neighbours and all who knew her.

We have lost a mom, grandma and great grandma but God has gained an angel who will still keep watch over us.  We will miss her.

She leaves to mourn her passing her 3 sons, Bill and Alice of Virginia, USA, Henry and Jacqueline of Estevan, SK, Jake and Connie of Winkler; 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Frank J. Driedger in 2003 and 4 siblings.

Funeral service was held on Monday, November 13, 2006 at 10:30 am at Blumennort Mennonite Church with Rev. Peter D. Zacharias and Rev. Rudy Janzen officiating.  Interment followed at Neuhorst Cemetery.

If friends so desire, donations may be made in Annie’s memory to the MCC Box 1774 Winkler, MB R6W 4B6.

Wiebe Funeral Home, Winkler in care of arrangements.
