William Borne

1928 - 2003

William “Bill” Borne, born November 9, 1928 at Myrtle, Manitoba, passed away peacefully at his home in Morden, Manitoba, on Tuesday, March 25, 2003.

Bill leaves to mourn his wife of 46 years, Helen: son Murray (Karen) Borne of Morden and their children; Rachael (Scott) Voth, Derek (Joelle) Borne; daughter Derrill (Barry) Letkeman of Darlingford and their children: Dallas, Brendon, and Julie: daughter Debbie Mayert and friend Andy; children Randy Mayert, Nicole Van Damme and graet-grandson Jordan; daughter Bette-Jane (Glenn) Shiskoski and their children Staci, Travis and friend Michelle.

He was predeceased by his parents William and Helena, infant sister, brother-in-law Noble Irwin, brother-in-law Greg Sheppard, brother-in-law John Warkentine.

Bill moved to Morden when he was 26 and there he met and married Helen Warkentine in 1956. He was very talented in many areas and he worked in a number of different jobs over the years. As a result, he made many friends in all the different places he worked. Some of his best qualities were his integrity and honesty, and always giving his best at what ever job he was doing.

Bill’s health often limited him in the activities he could participate in, but one thing he always made a priority was spending time with grandkids. Whether it was taking the boys golfing or playing pool with them, they always had a great time with “Papa”. One thing Bill always enjoyed later on, when his health didn’t permit him to get around very well, was sitting down and visiting with anyone who would take the time to talk. He really enjoyed talking about his younger years, and everyone loved to hear about his many exploits.

Bill suffered from numerous heart attacks and spent a number of different times in hospital rooms, so this made him examine his life, and he realized that he needed to make sure he knew where he would spend eternity. He accepted the Lord Jesus into his heart and knew with a certainty that his name was written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

Funeral services were held on Friday, March 28, 2003 in the Morden Alliance Church with Rev. Doug Gerrard officiating. Interment will take place in the Southside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s memory to the Boundary Trails Palliative Care Unit.
