Stuart Craig Johnston

Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at the Boundary Trails Health Centre, Stuart Craig
Johnston, aged 94 years, of Morden, MB formerly of the Mowbray District went to
his eternal rest.
Stuart Craig Johnston was born on January 30, 1910, in the Mowbray District.
One of five children born to Henry and Ellen Johnston, Stuart lived on the farm all of his life until six years ago when he and Muriel, his loving wife of 64 years, moved to Morden.
Stu took over management of the family farm at 18 years of age.
Stuart and Muriel Finley were married on July 6, 1940. Four children, Myrna, Stan, Mel and Nancy were born of the union.
Growing up, Stuart excelled at academics and had a terrific memory. He was noted for his fine sense of humor and his dramatic flair was evident during his many appearances in plays.
Stu was a hard worker and a good neighbor. He worked for the good of the community, school and church.
Stuart loved to visit and knew many people. His wonderful memory allowed him to relate stories of the past in humorous detail by the hour.
As well as Stu’s love of his family, he loved the land and was one with nature.
He will be deeply and sadly missed.
He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Muriel Johnston (nee Finley) of Morden; four children; Myrna & Gordon Thompson of Calgary; Stan & Joyce Johnston of Calgary; Mel & Gloria Johnston of Darlingford; Nancy and Lawrence Rendall of Manitou. He also leaves to mourn nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by three sisters and one brother
Funeral service was held on Friday, November 26, 2004 at 11:00 am at Westside Community Church with Pastor Russ Toews officiating. Interment followed at Jackson Cemetery.
