31, 2002, at the Tabor Home, Morden, Peter J. Toews, age 91, formerly of
Winkler, went to his eternal rest.
Our Dad, Peter J. Toews was born on August 11, 1911 to Jacob and Anna Toews of Neuenberg. He was baptized and joined the Sommerfelder Church. On November 3, 1935 he married Nettie Giesbrecht of Rosengart, and they had one son and one daughter. They lived in Neuenberg until 1949, when they moved to the village of Rosetown where they farmed until they retired. They moved to Winkler where they lived until 1999, at which time Mom moved into Salem Home in Winkler, and after a year later, Dad moved into Tabor Home in Morden where he passed away peacefully at 1:00am on Thursday October 31, 2002.
He leaves to mourn his passing his son John and wife Betty of Winkler, daughter Mary and husband Allen of North Vancouver, B.C., 2 sister-in-laws, 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife Nettie (nee Giesbrecht) in 2002, and by all of his siblings; 1 brother and 4 sisters.
Funeral service was held on Monday, November 4, 2002, 11:00am at Wiebe Funeral Chapel, Winkler, with Rev. John I. Peters and Rev. Abe Wiebe officiating. Interment followed at the Winkler Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the Tabor Home nurses and staff for their fine care and attention, the pastors, and Wiebe Funeral Home staff.
