Melford Clare Sandercock

1918 – 2005

On December 8, 2005, Melford “Mel” Clare Sandercock, aged 87 years of Morden, MB passed away peacefully at Boundary Trails Health Centre.

Mel is survived by his devoted wife of over sixty years, Hazel (nee Griffin) Sandercock, of Morden; 3 daughters Donna (Ron) Johansen, Glenda (Bill) Ramsay and their family, Janelle, Darin, Tyson and Garvin; Merle (Brian) Gadsby and their family, Ame (Ryan), Tim and Amber; 1 son Bill (Linda) and their family Dana (Westin) and Allison; 3 brothers Edgar, Bert and Garry; 2 sisters, Velma Keith and Mavis Cram; 2 sisters-in-law Florence and Betty.

He was predeceased by his parents, William and Emma Sandercock and 3 brothers Melville, Walter and Doug and 1 sister Marion Patterson.

Mel helped on the family farm until he married Hazel in 1945 at which time he took over the farm.  He worked it until 1981, when they moved into Morden and continued to help his son with the farming operation.  Mel was an active member of the Friendship Centre where he enjoyed playing pool and shuffleboard.  He also golfed and curled regularly well into his eighties.

Memorial service was held on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at 2:00 pm at St. Paul’s United Church with Doug Craig officiating.  Inurnment followed at Nelsonville Cemetery, Dunston.
