Kornelia Stoesz (nee Friesen)
1923 - 2004
God
wanted Mom at His Christmas table this year, and took her home on Thursday,
December 16th, 2004.
Kornelia was born on May 10th, 1923, to William W. & Cornelia Friesen of the Rosenheim district. She was baptized upon her faith in 1940 by Reverend Peter Toews. She was predeceased by both her parents, 5 sisters,( 2 sisters in infancy), 1 brother, 1 grand-son and 1 son-in-law.
Mom married John Stoesz on October 13th, 1942, showing us the example of a Christian marriage for 62 years. Mom will be missed so much by her loving husband John Stoesz, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. John & Tina Stoesz, of Plum Coulee, and their daughter Joanne; Dave & Susan Stoesz, of Rosenort, their children Mike & Martha, Jeremy, Zachary Stoesz of Rosenort; Nellie Stoesz of Winkler; Bill & Ruth Stoesz, of Altona, their children, Conrad & Michelle, Andrew & Rebecca Stoesz of Winnipeg. She will also be missed by many of her friends.
Mom loved music, and this she passed along to her children. We remember how she loved to sing, and remember her singing while she did her daily chores. She also enjoyed sewing and reading. She and Dad farmed in the Lowe Farm area for many years. Mom loved gardening and the farm life.
They moved to Winkler in 1975. Here Mom worked for MCC as a volunteer, and was employed by Home Care, which she really enjoyed. Mom was known for certain dishes that no one would make the way she did. Mom loved to go to her garage sales with her scooter, and even loved the noisy train that would pass by their house.
The last two and a half years of Mom’s life were really hard ones. She and Dad moved to Cedar Estates, and were looking forward to taking it a little easier. Here she suddenly was forced to adapt to not being able to walk, and for not being able to do so many of the things that she normally loved. We will never forget how Mom tried to make the best of her circumstances and ailing health. We will also never forget her unwavering faith, strength, and tolerance. We will miss her constant concern for her family, along with so many other things. God has granted her wish to be with Him, and we can praise Him for that.
Funeral services were held on December 21st, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at the Winkler Sommerfelder Church. Interment followed at the Rosenheim cemetery.
