John L. Braun

1917 – 2004

With family at his side, John L. Braun, age 86, passed away peacefully on March 12 at Salem Home in Winkler.  He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 58 years, Annie Braun (nee Falk), children Linda Reimer (Larry), Evelyn Braun (Robert), Eileen Pedersen (Dave), Marilyn Bergen (Albert), Ray Braun (Trudy) and 11 grandchildren, as well as five surviving siblings.

John was born November 13, 1917 at Chaplin, Saskatchewan.  He moved with his family to the Lowe Farm area at the age of 3, where he grew up and completed his Grade 12 education.  He was baptized in the Lowe Farm Bergthaler Mennonite Church and was very active in the church throughout his life.  His career as manager of the Lowe Farm Credit Union spanned 41 years.  He will be remembered as a strong contributor to his community and a loving husband, father and grandfather.  We are inspired by Dad as someone whose beliefs were integrated into his daily life and who taught us by example.

The family would like to express gratitude to the staff at Salem Home for providing kind and gentle care.  Funeral service was held at the Lowe Farm Bergthaler Mennonite Church at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16. Interment followed at the Lowe Farm Cemetery.
