David J. Zacharias
1926 – 2004
On
December 4, 2004, at 77 years of age, David J. Zacharias went to be in
the presence of the Lord. He was born in the Thames District. In his
youth he was known for his skill in baseball, hockey and soccer.
Dave could be described as a gentle caring man who adored his wife and four daughters. His passion for nature was evident in all the trees he planted. Small forests now grow because of his diligence.
Dave was a man of integrity, rigor, fun and possessed a generous hospitality. He entertained many with his musical gifts.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary (nee Neufeld), four daughters; Jackie and Paul McLeod of Rosser; Jeannie and Ed Thiessen of Stonewall; Joanie Anderson and Mark Soderlind of Thunder Bay, ON; Janet and Budd Bier of Winnipeg and grandchildren, Kelsey McLeod, Brittany and Evan Thiessen and Robert and Christopher Hunt. He was predeceased by two brothers and his parents.
A tribute to Dave’s life was held on Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at 2:00pm at St. Andrew’s United Church in Manitou. Pastor John Nikkel officiated, Pastor Hugh Morrow delivered the sermon and Pastor Tom Shipman and wife Gladys led in graveside hymn.
Dave will be deeply missed.
