Cornelius “Cornie” Fehr
1907 – 2003
Cornie
Fehr was born to Isaac and Barbara Fehr in the Gretna area on September 21, 1907
the eldest of 14 children.
As a young man he was baptized and joined the Sommerfeld Church. On September 9, 1934 he married Helene Hiebert and they had 6 children. He started out by working for the Municipality of Rhineland as a labourer and later as a grader operator. In 1950 he went to work for pipeline construction and continued to work for them until he was 69 years of age.
After that he continued to work as a truck driver for J.B.Agri of Morden until the buying and selling of fish interfered. He continued to sell fish after he entered Tabor Home. This came to an abrupt end when the children sold the freezer.
He entered Tabor Home on August 14, 2002. He received excellent care and had camaraderie with the staff which he so appreciated.
Cornie passed away peacefully September 10, 2003 at Tabor Home with family at his side.
He leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife Helene of 69 years, 2 sons and their wives, 3 daughters and their husbands, a daughter-in-law and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by 1 son.
Funeral service was held on Saturday, September 13, 2003 at 11:00am at the Morden Alliance Church with Rev. Morris Vincent and Rev. Jake Buhler officiating. Interment followed at Southside Cemetery, Morden.
