Bernhard “Ben” Rempel
1915 - 2003
Peacefully on Wednesday,
December 17, our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away at the
Salem Home Winkler at the age of 87. Dad is survived by and leaves to mourn
his loving wife Katrina (Tina); his son Brian of Winnipeg; daughter Elaine and
Bernie Janzen of Winkler, their son Matthew, and sister-in-law Rose Rempel and
her family in Edmonton. He ws predeceased by his parents Peter (1974) and
Susan(1981), and his siblings Tina (1921 in infancy), Adolf (1931), and Diedrich
(Rick)(1987).
Dad was born on December 28, 1915 in the R.M. of Morse, Saskatchewan to Peter and Susan (nee Wiebe) Rempel. After moving with his family to Gretna, he graduated from MCI in 1937. He married Katrina (Tina) Hildebrand in 1944 and settled in Winkler.
After attending Success Business College in Winnipeg, he began a career as a bookkeeper for Winkler Creamery, Gladstones, Irish Potato Chips, and Kroeker Seeds. He retired in 1980 having fully enjoyed his working years.
Dad was involved on many boards and committees which served the community including Winkler 75th Anniversary committee where he oversaw and edited the pictorial history.
Dad was a deeply religious man who was baptized upon confession of his faith in 1942. He along with his wife were charter members of the Grace Mennonite Church where he served one erm as deacon and taught Sunday School for many years.
Dad continues to be dearly loved and will be missed by his family and friends.

Public viewing will be held at Wiebe Funeral Home, Winkler on Saturday and Sunday, December 20 and 21 from 1-9:00 p.m. and at the church prior to the service. The Homegoing Service will be held on Monday, December 22 at the Grace Mennonite Church, Winkler at 11:00 a.m. with interment at the Winkler cemetery. In lieu of flower donations may be made to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank.
