Arthur Walske

1906 - 2002

Peacefully, at his residence in Morden, Arthur passed away, Tuesday May 28, 2002, at 96 years of age.

He was born on the family farm in 1-6 and was one of 14 children.

He worked in Chicago and Alberta before marrying Vera Meilicke in 1942.  They farmed in 1-6 before retiring to Morden in 1969.

Art was active in establishing the first Morden Friendship Centre.  He enjoyed playing pool, looking after his grandchildren, and cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays.  He kept up a keen interest in the family farm.  He was proud of the fact that he had his driver's license and was still driving.

He is survived by a son Michael & wife Sharlyne, and grandchildren Cory & Nicole, and Tricia; daughter Marilyn & husband John Dell, and granddaughter Janine & Mark Bowie; 2 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by wife Vera in 2000, and a grandson Mark.  He was the last surviving sibling in his family.

Funeral service was held from St. Paul's United Church, Morden on Friday May 31, 2002, 2:00pm, with clergy Jeri Bjornson officiating.  Interment followed at Hillside Cemetery.  If friends so desire donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Fnd. of Manitoba 301-352 Donald St. Wpg. Mb. R3B 2H8.
