Anna Peters (Nee Siemens)

1901 - 2002

Mother was born December 07, 1901 to Jacob and Helena Siemens in Straszburg near Plum Coulee, Manitoba, Canada. Her father died when she was only three years old. About a year later her mother married widower John Suderman. Mother had 3 Brothers, 3 sisters, 9 half-brothers and 7 step brothers and sisters. Mother received her elementary in the Osterwick School. She enjoyed reading, memorization, writing and oral mathematic.

She married Isaac D. Peters from Eichenfeld on October 30, 1921. Their wedding text was; “but for me and my house, I will serve the lord.”

During the Southern Manitoba revival the Lord was able to bring many into His fold. This included our mother. She never doubted her salvation since then.

Our parents lived in Eichenfeld, near Haskett, MB; Loma Plata, Paraguay, South America; Osterwick, Stephenfield, and Winkler, MB. Mother was a widow for almost 29 years. She moved to Morden in the fall of 1994.  In February 2001 she moved to Tabor Home at the age of 99 years and 2 months, where she peacefully went to her eternal home.

Mother was predeceased by her husband Isaac D. Peters in 1973, daughter Maria in infancy in 1942, son Jake in 1986, daughter Anne in 1998 great grandson Mark Bradley in 1995 and by all her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by the following children: Helen & husband Wilbur McAfee, Morden; Sarah, Morden; Isaac & Wife Tina, Winkler; John & Wife Tena, Morden; Norman Bluhm-son-in-law, Margaret & Husband Willie Hiebert, Morden; Dave & wife Linda, Morden; Adeline-daughter-in-law; Pete & wife Louise, Morden.. Plus by 28 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and 12 great, great grandchildren.

Our mother enjoyed cooking, canning, baking, flowers, gardening and sewing. Cleanliness and neatness were very important. She also enjoyed attending church services as long as her health permitted. She spent much time reading the Bible, the Mennonitische Post and books. Mother taught us by example: integrity, punctuality, great works ethics, prayer and hospitality. She was loving, caring, unselfish and very conscientious.

Family was very important and she had two desires for them: that one day we would all meet in heaven. She said that this is possible if each one would cry unto the Lord for forgiveness of their sins. Secondly she desired that each one serve the Lord as their sins. Then truly it would come to pass that she and her house would know and serve the Lord.

Mother enjoyed good health except for much arthritis pain. She was hospitalized only once for a critical illness: Double Pneumonia in January 1999.

Mother became very ill November 05, 2002. It was her heart and lungs. Someone of the family stayed with her day and night. On December 7th, on her 101th Birthday she enjoyed about 2 ½ hours with us in the activity room. She went to her heavenly reward at 6:55 a.m. Monday December 30, 2002. We will miss Mother and especially her prayers.

A Celebration of Mrs. Anna Peters life took place at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 03, 2003 at the Morden E.M.M. Church with clergy Ben Wiebe, Dan Koop, and Morris Vincent officiating. In lieu of flowers donations were given to the Gospel Message, Saskatoon which she enjoyed listening to. Burial followed at the Winkler Cemetery beside her husband, our Dad.

Our sincere thanks to the Tabor Home Staff for the compassion and care for Mother. Thank-you also for the flowers and sympathy cards.

Wiebe Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
