1926 - 2003
On Monday morning,
February 24th at 7:00 a.m. Abram K. Friesen (Chuck), aged 77, passed
peacefully into the waiting arms of God and his children. After a year in the
wonderful care of those at Morden Tabor Home, it was time for him to begin his
next life in heaven beside his Lord and Saviour that he knew and loved so well.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Helen, his son David, daughter-in-law Wendy, his grandchildren Nathan, Matthew and Alison together with his sister Mary and brothers John and Jake and their respective families. Abe was predeceased by his brother Ed, his mother Maria, his father Jacob and his children Lorraine, Mark, Kenneth and Helena.
Abe was born in Neubergthal, Manitoba on May 15, 1925. He moved with his family to a quarter section 3 miles west and 6 ¾ north of Morden when he was 2 years old. Eventually Abe took over this farm and raised a wonderful family of 5 children. Abe was not a stranger to the pain and suffering that losing a loved one causes. In a tragic accident in June of 1981, he suffered the loss of 4 of his children. For many this would have been too much to take yet Abe with the support of his wife Helen and his faith was able to use this event to further strengthen his beliefs and his witnessing.
Abe moved to the Tabor Home in November of 2000. Those that knew Abe certainly knew that this was a decision not easily made since he loved his freedom and the outdoors.
The family would like to thank all those who visited, supported and shared their love and memories of Abe during his last days on this earth. We all know he has gone on to a much better place.
Funeral services for Abram K. Friesen were held on Friday, February 28th at 11:00 a.m. at Westside Community Church in Morden. Internment took place at the Dunston Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba.
