Abe was born in the 1-6 Brown District, near Morden, MB on November 24, 1916 and worked from a very young age as a farmhand until he married Evelyn on October 30, 1941. They started farming and family in the Pembina Valley. A few years later, they moved out to the top of the valley where he farmed until his retirement. In 1978, their retirement moved them to La Riviere where they stayed the next 25 years. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards with friends and neighbors, woodworking and fixing anything he could get in his garage. They moved to Morden in 2002.
Abe was outgoing, jolly and mischievous with a sense of humour, easy to be with and charmed everyone that experienced it. Abe never uttered one word of complaint while fighting his illness and his sense of humour remained to the very end. He leaves us with his model of strength and courage.
Funeral service was held on Thursday, March 17, 2005 at 2:00 pm at the St. Paul’s United Church with Bev Simpson and Jeanette Brigette officiating. Internment followed at the Chapel Cemetery in Morden, MB.
